Brooks on the Grind - Grand Opening from Scott L. Steward, the Country's Best Entrepreneurship Teacher on Vimeo.
While serving great coffee, Brooks On The Grind will also raise money for the Business Club and the school as well as offer real-world business experiences and opportunities for their members to interact with their community. “We also want to leave a mark on our school and be known for changing the game and adding value to our school. Hopefully we can make enough money to help pay for more technology, professional opportunities for students, and a football field for our campus,” said Club Sponsor Mr. Scott L. Steward.
Brooks On The Grind is a business enterprise/incubator that allows students to apply what they learn in their business classes. The Business Club is part of the schools' Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter and is open to all students. The executive team consists of current Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) students that have either previously or are currently operating their own business. The executive members serve as peer mentors to the underclassmen to help them along the way.
With the assistance of former Austin Polytechnical Principal Bill Gerstein, community liaison, Dr. George Cole, and a very generous donation of supplies and equipment from Modern Processing Equipment (MPE), the students developed a business plan, were trained to operate the equipment, and have uncovered an unmatched learning opportunity.
Brooks On The Grind operates twice a week (before school, during lunch periods, and after school) and currently offers hot chocolate, cappuccinos, and coffee, all for one dollar. “We look forward to moving into iced coffee and tea in the very near future,” said Business Club CEO Ricardo-Pierre Louis.
Congratulations to the Business Club at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory on their opening and we wish you much success!
