Jimmy Choo and H&M -Ladies Go Crazy
Photo: MAGNUS MAGNUSSON
According to The Telegraph.co.uk - The Swedish chain, H&M, is continuing its incredible run of ‘designer fashion marriages’ by signing a deal with the red carpet, shoe and handbag brand, Jimmy Choo.
This latest venture comes hot on the heels of H&M’s cheap-chic, sell-out collections by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, and Britain’s ‘Boho King’, Matthew Williamson.
From November 14, high street shoppers will be able to get their hands on bargain-priced version of the spike heels and ankle boots worn by Hollywood stars such as Cate Blanchett, Halle Berry and Hilary Swank, for between €40 and €200. The Jimmy Choo bags for H&M will be in the same price bracket.
The accessories range will be complemented by a one-off capsule collection of Jimmy Choo womenswear, as well as a men’s range of shoes, bags and accessories.
“We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far, and to be designing a collection appealing to fashion-savvy, street-smart women, and to be including some great pieces for men, too“ said Tamara Mellon, the founder and president of Jimmy Choo, who launched the deluxe celebrity brand in 1996.
“We adore Jimmy Choo’s shoes and bags,” said Margareta van den Bosch, the creative advisor for H&M and the ‘brains’ behind the chain’s impressive roll-call of designer tie-ups, which includes Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Karl Lagerfeld and Roberto Cavalli, in addition to Comme and Williamson.
Ms van den Bosch said the Jimmy Choo bags were: “glamorous and sexy, and they add instant style to the simplest of outfits. I like the way we have worked with clothes to accessorise the shoes and bags rather than the other way around. This collaboration is particularly exciting because it’s our first shoe designer collection.”
The Jimmy Choo collection will be launched in 200 H&M stores worldwide on November 14th and will be available in the UK at the Oxford Circus, London W1 flagship and branches in major cities.

Zondra Hughes Releases New Book w/ Wendy Williams - Today May 26, 2009
Zondra Hughes spent six years penning sex and relationship columns for Ebony magazine. Loved the salacious stories from everyday folks and the solid advice from the nation's top relationship therapists and psychologists. These columns set the groundwork for my foray into erotica.
What is "Ritz Harper Goes to Hollywood" about? As the reigning "Queen of Radio," Ritz Harper has managed to out, ridicule, jack up or mess over everyone and anyone, from hip-hop stars to high-class snobs. So, she's decided to take her career to the next level: Hollywood, baby!
Decked out in Chanel from head to toe, and sporting bodacious new breast implants, Ritz is ready for her close-up. But first, she has to deal with the dirtiest dealmakers in Tinsel Town -- and the trashiest trash-talkers in her reckless past. Is Ritz worried? Of course not. She's saving all the drama for her on-air debut, where the scandalicious details of her life could send her ratings through the roof. How you doin'?"

Meet Ms. Kandias Conda - Someone You Should Know
There are many women who deserve to be highlighted and there is no better time than Woman’s History Month to introduce you to Ms. Kandias Conda. Ms. Conda is a United States Air Force Veteran, Director of Youth Conferences and Programs for the Illinois Institute for Entrepreneurship Education, author, single parent, and entrepreneur don’t even begin to describe one Ms. Kandis Conda. Among Conda’s many accomplishments, she was honored by the Naismith Hall of Fame in 1995 for being the first African American woman to manage a woman’s professional basketball team, the Chicago Twisters (WBA). She is also the author of four books: How to Get That Cutie in Commercials, Full Conference Pass, For Teens Who Think They Know Everything, and Make $1,000 in 35 Days. Conda is also currently writing two more books; Too Young to be Broke and The Turning Point of Success. The Turning Point of Success features success stories from intriguing people like, Will Downing, Teddy Reily, Jo Soto, Melissa Morgan, David Banner and many more. N’Digo had the opportunity to catch up with Kandias Conda to get a better idea of how she does it all.
N’Digo- What’s your motivation?
Conda – “My faith in God and helping others. I enjoy seeing others benefit from what I’ve done. For individuals having them read my books then seeing how it’s changed their lives. Having the chance to see how my books can change someone’s life. I look forward helping other fill in that gap in what they’re already exposed to.”
N’Digo – How important is youth entrepreneurship to you?
Conda – “It’s paramount. Youth entrepreneurship is growing, but it nowhere where it should be today. There are some teachers that teach entrepreneurship who could give a bit more to the students. Education financing is being cut and we need teachers that are willing to take the bulls by the hors and be ambassadors of entrepreneurship education and move this ship (entrepreneurship education) forward.”
Conda helps run an international non-profit organization; the Illinois Institute for Entrepreneurship Education (www.iiee.org) offers workshops and exposure to guest speakers over two and a half days from April 30 to May 2, 2009 at the Westin Hotel in Itasca, Illinois. To date, more that 500 students have registered from around the world including Mexico City, Mexico and Quebec.
N’Digo – What have been some of your greatest accomplishments?
Conda – Working with the Women’s Basketball Association (WBA) was very exciting. I was the team manager for the Chicago Twisters at a time when players had to pay for their own transportation to and from games. I was in the process of using my own money to buy the Chicago Twisters before the WBA was dismantled. I helped to bring the status of the organization up. It was liberating after being in the military. During that same time, my team won the WBA championship. I had the pleasure of seeing some of my players like Stacey Carney (Purdue University) and Whitney Young High School legend E.C. Hill (current assistant coach of Northern Illinois University), go on to the WNBA.”
N’Digo – How does it feel to be a woman, today?
Conda – “In this day and time, I feel dynamic. There are a lot of women who are running businesses, households, going to school and this is our time this is a paramount time for us, especially with the installment of an African American first lady, it’s an amazing time for African American women. Many women are emulating Michelle Obama and many of women are getting recognized for that.”
N’Digo – What do you want people to remember about you? What is your intended legacy?
Conda – “I want to help young people. I want to bring families together. I want to inform young people on simple things as enhancing their life skills. I’d like to raise the bar as far as educating people, especially on subjects that parents don’t like to discuss with young people. Some things we take for granted like having the ability to talk to our children.
Conda is a self published author who owns two businesses; GSW – a publication company, and Young Millionaires, LLC – an organization that establishes partnerships with colleges and universities to deliver financial literacy and entrepreneurship workshops to young people. Conda has a Bachelor in Workforce Development from Southern Illinois University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts from Chicago State University. For more information about the two and a half day youth conference, visit www.iiee.org.

Earning Money in Illinois Politics - LOL!
This is how it works in Illinois.
Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the Governor's Mansion in Springfield . One from Springfield , another from Plainfield , and the third, a union contractor from Chicago . They go with an official from the Governor's staff to examine the fence.
The Springfield contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew, and $100 profit for me."
The Plainfield contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then Says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."
The Chicago union contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the Governor and whispers, "$2,700."
The Governor says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The Chicago union contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the dummy from Plainfield to fix the fence."
"Done!" replies Blagojevich

New Sneakers from Leaders 1354
From Leaders: "We brought you the blue lines in November and now we’re bringing you the red lines. They’ll be releasing this Saturday at our brand new downtown location (672 N.Wells). The “Leaders1354 Jam” is made up of metallic silver, 3M, perforated suede, crackled leather, patent leather, premium leather, ostrich, and croc’d leather. The sole inspiration was from CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) train system map and the actual train. Chicago operates around the red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, brown, and pink line trains so they’re all represented by the speckles. The red and blue line trains the cities major lines and both run close to both store locations (hence the two colorways). The transparent blue tinted out sole represents Lake Michigan with the Chicago Transit map visible through it."

Honoring Buisness: Does Profit Mean Getting Over?
As I observe many emerging teenagers develop their own businesses, I have witnessed the difficulty students have in understanding the cost of running and conducting business.
It is my opinion that due to past business experiences for many African-Americans and Hispanics i.e., years of being priced gauged by white business owners and manipulated by big business, and even being denied equal access to conduct profitable trade, today's generation of emerging entrepreneurs under the age of 21 feel compelled to price items 'fairly'. For example, let's say it costs a young business owner $2.50 to produce an item and the competiton sells a similar, of equal quality, item for $10.00. The young business owner may feel compelled to sell the item, for less than $10.00 for a number of reasons.
1. A lower price will equal higher sales volume
2. $10.00 is 'getting over' on the customer, even if they are willing to pay $10.00 for the product
3. Simply put; they don't want to charge the customer, 'too much'
My concern with this concept varies. The concept of 'voluntary exchange' means is consumers are willing to pay the agreed upon price, it's not getting over. It's conducting business. Of course if the business onwer put a gun to the customer and forced them to purchase, then it's no longer voluntary exchange; that's robbery! Look at Nike. It costs Nike little to nothing to produce a pair of dunks, right? Let's guesstimate somewhere around $10.00 including shipping (I'm shooting high). Nike turns around and resells that same pair of shoes for what, $80.00? And, to Nike's defense, consumers purchased, many with no objection to price. This is partially due to supply and demand as well as, many consumers just wanting to fit in at any cost.
My point is this, in business (and I am not talking hustle game, street game, or Wall Street 'debunk the investor' game) for the business owner the objective is to get the highest price for your product or service that the customer is willing to pay. On the other hand, the consumers objective is to pay the lowest price for the highest QUALITY product on the market. Business is the abilty to findthe common ground, where the business onwer and the consumer are both happy.
For my young entrepreneurs reading this, I also want to disucss dividing up the money. But I'll save that for a later BLOG!
