Two Chicago Public School Students Represent in Business
On Thursday October 23, 2008, two students from the Chicago Public School district competed in a national buisness plan competition sponsored by Oppenheimerfunds and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). Rodney Walker, CEO of Forever Life Video Productions, and Lauren Golston, CEO of LoPhotography won 2nd place and finished in the top 12, respectively. They earned their spots after competing against more than 24,000 students nationally. Rodney Walker and his business partner Gabriel Echols won $5,000 for their second place finish. Rodney and Gabriel graduated from ACE Tech Charter School on Chicago's south side and were both taught by Certified NFTE teacher Joshua Mercer. Lauren Golston graduated from Gwendolyn Brooks and was taught by Master Certified NFTE teacher Scott L. Steward.
